Look younger! Get rid of your acne! Tired of those sunspots?


My goodness, I don’t know about y’all but I feel like skincare is on fire right now. There are so many products available and they all promise so much. However, there’s a price and usually it’s pretty high.


To be honest with you, I have been overwhelmed. Having good skin is important to me but how do I know what to use? And how do I achieve good skin without breaking my bank?


Although I don’t have all the answers, I do have some insight to good skincare that won’t cost you your peace of mind and products that work FOR ME. I want to put emphasis on the “for me” because ALL skin is different. I could rant and rave about all the wonderful effects I’ve had from my skincare routine and you could try it and have the complete opposite reaction. And that’s okay! I want to note that if your skincare regimen is working then don’t change it! The grass isn’t always greener (although saving money is). Lastly, I’m still working on my skincare process and love hearing other gal’s regimens so feel free to drop some advice! I will say that I’ve been using the same products for about 5 months now and I’m pleased, which is why I’m sharing.


Skincare goes beyond washing your face once or twice a day but that doesn’t mean it has to take 30 minutes! Below I’ve broken down my morning and evening routines. Let’s get sudsy!


Morning Routine:

I wash my face with Cetaphil. I pat my face dry and try not to rub your face, be gentle (my least favorite word btw). Then I take a cotton ball and put a little Thayers Witch Hazel: Rose Petal toner on it and wipe it all over my face and neck. Let it dry and then apply your go-to moisturizer WITH SPF…I repeat WITH SPF! I don’t understand why folks don’t use a face moisturizer with protection. Your skin will thank you 5 years from now. Also, I haven’t loved any of the face moisturizers I use so if y’all have any recommendations then let me know!

Nighttime Routine:

I take a cotton swab and lather it up with coconut oil. I use coconut oil because it’s super gentle and makes my skin feel great. I really don’t like using skincare products with a lot of ingredients because I don’t know what they are. I try to get as much makeup off as I can. This process isn’t bullet proof and I also don’t wear a lot of makeup so if you do then this process may not work for you (that’s okay!). If I shower, then I use my Aveno face scrub but if I don’t then I use my Cetaphil wash. I then take another cotton swab and coat it with a mixture of water and apple cider vinegar. I currently use more apple cider vinegar than water but to start out I would use more water because it can sting a little bit. In addition, depending on how sensitive your skin is a lot of vinegar could cause some trouble. I wipe this mixture all over my face and allow it to dry. Once it’s dry, I put Cetaphil lotion on my face and I’m ready for bed.





I’ve heard that adding vitamin E oil to the lotion makes your skin glow. I haven’t tried this yet but it’s on the list of to-dos.


That’s it! Like I said I’ve been doing this for about 5 months now and (knock on wood) I’ve barely had any breakouts! I think the toner and the apple cider vinegar mixture are game changers!!


I also love using this rose water spray to feel fresh throughout the day. Or I use the spray instead of the toner whenever I have a spray tan, so I don’t rub the color off. It’s definitely not as good as the toner but it’s better than nothing.
