Charlie and I's next step(s)
Updated: Dec 28, 2019
Hey, Y'all! We have some updates and announcements and just words. You may have noticed but my blog has slowly incorporated Charlie more and more and it will continue to do so. We are less than 200 days away from becoming husband and wife and our lives are becoming more intertwined as we inch closer to that day.
Charlie and I believe we have a strong calling as a couple. We know that our personal walks with the Lord have only grown stronger as a couple and although this is incredible and exactly what a relationship should do...we believe our calling goes beyond that. We are a great team and we want our relationship to be a vessel for the Lord to work. We want to be transparent, honest and invested in others. We desire to be on mission together to spread the love of Jesus and help others in any phase of life.
Like I mentioned before, we are less than 200 days away from being married and gah lee we are itching to add a ring to one another's left hand. However, our life is as messy, chaotic and unknown as its ever been. This upcoming spring I will be continuing graduate school at the University of Georgia while Charlie prepares for the NFL draft. Wow! Right? Charlie is blessed to have the opportunity to have a potential career in the NFL and I'm supporting this dream of his! This dream opportunity (like most other incredible opportunities) has a few downsides. Charlie and I have never had a long-distance season of dating. We are looking forward to the growth that comes through it, but man, it's tough when you're comfortable being 5 minutes apart. We literally can't plan for anything past our honeymoon. Charlie may get drafted in April and stay at that team, he may get drafted and then cut or he might not get drafted at all. We have no idea what our future holds!
Luckily, we've had a few pals go through this process before us and we've been able to learn from their experiences. They've all been in our exact phase of life young, engaged, pursuing the NFL while the lady works or finishes her degree. These pals of ours have been a great help in many ways that they probably don't even know, however, Charlie and I realize not everyone is that lucky.
This is where Charlie and I come in. We want to share this season with you! We have discussed and prayed about this but we believe that with the right one in charge, God, that this could be an awesome thing. We have created an Instagram @bless_ourmess and will be sharing experiences, hardships, praises, prayer requests and life with you. The Instagram will be connected to this blog for longer posts, but in reality, we want it to be accessible.
So, the name? Yes, bless our mess. I came up with this maybe a month ago because after discussing what the upcoming months or year is going to look like I realized it was going to be messy but also a huge blessing. It hasn't gotten too messy yet, but the blessings have begun. I'm usually a planner...I have to have everything planned in advance. As you can imagine, I wanted Charlie and I's future to be set in stone and planned, but that's just not how it's gonna go down. God has been teaching me patience and I've walked into a whole new level of faith. That's how the name came about.
In short, our new Instagram and blog will be for those who are interested in what being young, engaged, away from one another, planning a wedding, pursuing an NFL career and loving Jesus looks like. We will do our best to be transparent, honest and informative.
